Nick Bailey
of the Swindon and Cricklade Railway has obtained a £20,000 grant
from the Esmee Fairbairn Foundation for the restoration of the TVR 4
wheel coach body No. 73, owned by the Swindon and Cricklade railway.
It used to be a 4 wheel vehicle and had 2 first and 2 third class compartments
and was build in Cardiff by the Taff Vale Railway around 1890. The coach
body will be going to Appleby Heritage Centre for restoration and work
should start in October. The grant covers the basis restoration of the
body but doesn't include painting.
We are
still considering the options for making/obtaining a chassis for it
to go on, but is likely that this work would be done by a contractor
off site.
The
website will be updated as the work progresses.
